At Play Faire Park, we are big supporters of live music, especially local music, and we offer an opportunity and cool venue to that end. We are first and foremost, a miniature golf course and family fun center, but we strongly feel that live music only enhances the recreational experience that our Park offers to the public.
Play Faire Park's outdoor venue is nestled in a wonderful old neighborhood and it is very important to us to be a good and respectful neighbor. The purpose of the Park is to provide a space to escape and have fun...we know that music is a key component to this and that it can establish the tone and atmosphere. Because of this, we are selective in the types of shows that we host and promote. If you are your band are interested in performing in our extremely unique venue, please read on for our Park guidelines and for information on how to book a show.
PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES
In no way do we want, or mean, to be "censors," but we know what works in the Park...in terms of concert goers, as well as Park patrons, neighborhood members, police, and the "smiles-to-ya" atmosphere of Play Faire Park. Our guidelines include:
- No Hate . . . if your music conveys any form of hate, then this isn't the place for your music.
- No cussing . . . the occasional profanity is not what we are talking about, but if your lyrics require profanity, then this isn't the place for your music.
- No screaming . . . once again, the occasional wail is not what we are talking about but "screams" just don't work out here - we have tried - and this isn't the place for that type of music.
- The Park personnel control the volume of the show . . . (without exception) ie. see the part about being a good neighbor. The volume permitted will make for a fine show. We have asked performers to turn it up too.
- There are time constraints . . . our shows need to start a wee bit earlier than normal so that we have ample performance time and still remain a good neighbor.
The Park Provides:
- A sound system - if we need to provide a sound system we ask for 2 days notice. You are welcome to use your own as long as it is adequate and you maintain the Park's sound standards.
- We work hard to provide a professional setting (as professional as a miniature golf course setting can be) and ask the same of you.
- We provide bottled water and towels for the stage.
- After getting set up, you are welcome to enjoy the Park.
- We provide a guest list for each show - each band member gets one guest and the band as a whole gets an additional 3 guests. Parents are free and don't count towards your guest list, although brothers and sisters must pay.
- We provide publicity - GREAT in-house posters (see our poster gallery), concert calendars posted to regional media outlets and email blasts sent to our 200-plus member email list.
**Show time and sound check ARE NOT times to practice. Be ready for show time and your introduction.
**We ask that you be unloaded 2 hours before show time. If you need help unloading, please let us know ahead of time and we will have dollies and carts for your use.
